NEW RULE :
DRAW IN FINAL SERIES
A Grade,B Grade and Thirds
The DVFL has determined that, in the event of the
scores being tied at the end of the fourth quarter, additional time will be
played in all matches other than the Grand Final which will be replayed.
To avoid any inaccuracies and disputes as to
whether the game is in fact drawn at the normal elapsed time, the emergency time
keeper will act as the third recorder of scores in the case of a dispute, he
shall move to the timekeeper’s box from three quarter time onwards. He will
verify that in fact the scores are level at the normal elapsed time and then the
independent timekeeper can continue his duties.
The procedure for
implementing the additional time process is as follows:
i. After the siren at the end of the fourth
quarter, all umpires are to assemble at the centre circle as quickly as
possible.
ii. The goal umpires will check their score
cards, agree on the result and notify the scoreboard of the correct scores.
iii. If a winner has been determined, the umpires
will leave the field. If the scores are tied, an additional two halves of 5
minutes each plus time on will be played.
iv. The length of the break between the end of
the fourth quarter and the commencement of additional time will be 5 minutes,
during which coaches are permitted to address their players. The
timekeepers will sound a warning siren twice at 3 minutes and then once at 5
minutes. Teams not ready to commence play at the five-minute siren shall be
reported to the DVFL by the field umpires.
All umpires must be in a position ready to
commence play at the five-minute siren. The field umpire will consult both
captains as to their readiness to recommence play.
v. For the first half of additional time, teams
will kick to the ends which they kicked in the first and third quarters.
vi. At the conclusion of the first half of
additional time, the teams will change ends immediately - coaches are not
permitted to address their teams between halves.
vii. The field umpires will re-commence play as
soon as the teams are in position. The field umpire will consult both Captains
as to their readiness to re-commence play.
viii. At the conclusion of additional time, all
umpires are to assemble at the centre circle. The goal umpire will check their
score cards, agree on the results and notify the scoreboard of the correct
scores.
# If the scores are still tied, a further two
halves of additional time will be played. This process will be repeated until a
winner is determined.
